Learning English is not just for getting a good result in school, but also very important to get information. You may obtain information whatever you desire as long as you adapt to the English environment, it is like a key to open the world. To facilitate, self-learning through online resources is the most effective way to accomplish this.

There are tons of free online learning materials you may choose based on your preferences, however, not many of those have interaction involved. Here will introduce one of the useful tools and explain how it works.

Lingoda is a paid platform for people to learn languages, it provides FOUR different languages for worldwide students who want to improve their language at different levels. It provides levels from beginner to advanced, depending on your choice. Teachers are proven fluent in the respected language they are teaching, and they all have self-description in their profiles. The platform is open 24/7, and as long as the class has a vacancy (5 students maximum), you may register and attend the class anytime your desire. Every class duration is one hour, you may choose a private or a group class to suit your plan.

This platform provides classes that cover a large range of topics, for example, Technology, Books, Music, Reading, Speaking, Writing, Interviews, Grammar, etc. and it is easy to find the one that you are interested in. Class materials will be provided before the lesson. During the class, you will be given time to share your opinion and discuss the topics with classmates, the teachers will provide comments and recommendations throughout the class. You will be eligible to give a rating to the class afterwards.

As mentioned at the beginning, this is also a free online course for language. The platform provides a scheme called SPRINT, a challenge for people who paid and registered for the scheme and accomplished the number of group classes as required, a FULL refund will be given. It is divided into two plans, one is to attend 30 classes in 60 days; the other one is to attend 60 classes in 60 days. Upon finishing, the former plan provides a 50% refund while the latter one provides a 100% cashback refund. This challenge has been launched for several years, and it is well received with lots of compliments.

To start with, you may check your level of the desired language in advance. Click on the image above, it provides a link for a free placement test. The platform modules are structured according to CEFR, which stands for Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. In general, it provides 5 different levels for students from A1 to C1. Students who desperately want to improve their language may choose one or two levels higher to study. A certificate will be issued in accordance with CEFR after accomplishing a certain number of classes which is widely recognised by many institutions.

In a nutshell, maybe you have noticed Lingoda has tons of online advertisements e.g. through YouTubers, and wonder if it is spam, but now I have proven that it is worth trying. It is a precious time to have a chance to speak to foreigners and explore so many different topics that we did not have a chance to study.

Tip: For those who want to join the Sprint challenge, read through the instructions carefully to make sure you understand the rules before payment. It is definitely motivation in learning when you have a goal to get your money back. (laugh)
